Three local SEO projects, shown through the tools that measure them: rank grids, the map pack itself, and the Google Business Profile dashboard. These were delivered for clients in North America.

Ranking a website and ranking a profile are two different jobs. The map pack runs on proximity, category accuracy, profile completeness and review activity. A business can hold position one in the map while its website sits on page three, and the reverse is just as common.
Primary and secondary categories chosen against the searches that actually trigger the pack, not against how the owner describes the business.
Services, attributes, hours and photos filled in properly. An incomplete profile loses to a complete one at equal distance.
Name, address and phone identical across the site, the profile and every directory that lists the business.
Volume matters, but so does recency and whether the owner replies. Two of the competitors here had far more reviews and still lost the position.
Position is measured across a grid of points, not from one address, because the pack changes as the searcher moves.
Posts and photos on a schedule. Dormant profiles slide, even when everything else is in place.
These projects were delivered for clients in the United States and Canada. The method is the one we use here, but the market and competitor density were different.
It happens when a profile has been neglected and the fixes are large. On a profile already worked on, movement takes considerably longer.
36 calls in 28 days is 36 calls. The percentage looks large because the base was small, and we would rather say that than let the number stand alone.
A rank grid is a snapshot. Positions shift with the searcher's location and with competitor activity, which is why we measure across a grid rather than one point.
No invented testimonials anywhere on this site. Where results were not verified, we say so on the page.
